The bone carving, a kind of carving art taking bones as its carriers, has a long history. In the Neolithic age, while the ancients were fighting against the harsh nature for survival with their extremely backward productivity, they collected materials from where they were living and created this works. Although it is plain and simple, it reflects a kind of worship to ancestors.

With the history changing, the bone carving has been gradually evolving from daily necessities to decorations. Ancients had used bones to make needles and knives and carve characters and patterns on bones long time ago. As we all know, the bone carving is a mascot with the meanings of receiving wealth and blessings, bringing good luck, keeping evils away and ensuring safety. It is said it does bring people with all lucky things such as blessings, wealth, career, love, happiness and education etc. It is not only well-known for local Tibet people but also respected by people throughout the world.
